Title: Director of Project Management and Planning

Favorite BPC Spot:
South Cove

Debbie Addison, Battery Park City Authority’s Director of Project Management and Planning, has undertaken a wide array of planning and development projects since graduating from Columbia University with a degree in architecture in 2003. After graduation, Debbie was drawn to construction management, accepting a job at her alma mater, supervising the building of new faculty housing. She has also worked on the development of healthcare facilities around the city.

More about BPCA’s suite of resiliency infrastructure projects can be found here.

In her free time, Debbie enjoys growing her music collection and knowledge—she loves listening to just about anything, from West African jazz singer Angelique Kidjo to American blues singer Etta James.

Testing Faith: Unpacking Testimonies of Ukrainian Rescue Work
Monday, August, 19
7:00 PM
36 Battery Place
In occupied Ukraine, most non-Jews swiftly divided into collaborators, accomplices to occupying forces, and bystanders. Some, however, turned to rescue work. A small percentage of this minority were people from less prominent denominations of Christianity, themselves in danger of persecution and social exclusion. Raisa Ostapenko will use her collection of primary source testimony from Ukrainians to explore why some marginalized groups across Ukraine were more likely to empathize with persecuted Jews. Some historians have suggested that the “underdog” effect is in play, but Ostapenko has evidence to suggest something further – Judeophilia, or an ardent interest in Jews and Judaism.
