What You Need to Know About Investing in Healthcare AI

In the spring of 2019, Equities.com published an informative piece by Lu Zhang with tips and advice for investing in Healthcare AI.

While we think the entire piece is worth a read, there are a few points that stand out to us that align well with our investment paradigm and business model at Bold Brain Ventures:
  • "Founders who are familiar with the problems that healthcare data has presented in the past will be better equipped to see the opportunities in the future."
    • Bold Brain Ventures has two board-certified, practicing radiologists as our cofounders
  • "Start with the healthcare problem, not the tech problem"
    • We are focusing on improving radiology & patient care, and we are investing in companies who have a similar mission
  • "Work closely with a big — but strategic — industry partner."
    • We will be announcing a big strategic partnership soon!

Preparing healthcare IT architecture for AI: Part 1

In August, an article by Erik L. Ridley was published in AuntMinnie.com about preparing healthcare IT architecture for AI. In it, Dr. Paul Chang explains some of the issues that radiology is facing in regard to radiomics, big data, and IT infrastructure.

Dr. Chang is a leading radiologist and expert on imaging informatics and artificial intelligence. Some of the IT requirements and challenges in radiology that Dr. Chang listed in the article include maximizing data-driven business intelligence, focusing on the scalability of data and data storage, and leveraging the cloud.

Bold Brain Ventures has been starting to see tech companies and the healthcare industry address many of these hurdles in AI development, and we look forward to being part of this progress!
