Foundations and the Future: Celebrating Women's Leadership in the Food Movement
September 28, 2019, 10am–6pm | Red H Farm, Permaculture Skills Center

A day of education, celebration and dialogue, this 4th annual symposium intends to acknowledge, celebrate and lift up leaders who are women identified, trans, queer, Indigenous, Black, people of color, and whose identities intersect and transcend these categories. All humans are welcome to participate. The day will focus on nurturing connections to strengthen the collective movement through inter-generational dialogue weaving together policy, advocacy, justice, art and farming. The day features prominent speakers from around California, breakout conversations and activities, coffee and breakfast snacks, a farm-to-table lunch, an art show featuring women working at the intersection of food and art, live music, and a happy hour featuring some of our favorite local cideries, breweries and wineries. See more information here

Mexico-California Environmental Summit
October 2-3, 2019 | Mexico City

Are you a graduate student currently engaged in research in Mexico or interested in future research engagements? Are you interested in meeting and networking with UC and Mexico researchers and faculty? The Latinx and the Environment Initiative is co-organizing the Mexico-California Environmental Summit to take place in Mexico City on October 2 & 3, 2019. We are seeking one graduate student from each UC campus to attend the event! With the generous support of the Planetary Health Center of Expertise and the University of California Global Health Initiative (UCGHI), we are providing financial assistance for event attendance in the form of transportation and lodging costs. There are no registration costs. Apply for the summit here

Small Farm Tech Expo
December 9, 2019, 9am–6pm | Shone Farm, Santa Rosa Junior College

Tools and technology can help farmers improve efficiency, save labor and connect with their customers. But it seems many of the innovations taking place in agriculture today are built for large-scale production, out of reach for many family farmers and spurring consolidation in the industry. Join us for this event showcasing what's possible for small-acre and sustainable agriculture. From cost-effective tools to software that streamlines direct sales, from practical tractor implements to data management to help you better understand what's happening beneath your fields. Whether you're growing 20 acres of row crops or just tending a quarter acre market garden, managing a small-scale ranch or a family-owned vineyard, come learn the latest in appropriately-scaled Ag Tech, interact with innovators and start working smarter, not harder. Register for the expo here
