The summer of 2019 at Camp Deer Run is now nearly a month behind us, and we have had plenty of time to reflect and rejoice over all of the great things that God accomplished this summer at Deer Run. This summer was far from typical as we had two exciting milestones to celebrate. First, we were able to open up and use our new Mess Hall for the first time this summer. This has been a huge step in our mission to effectively and sustainably serve 200 campers per session, which by God's provision we were able to do this summer. That brings us to our next milestone! Ever since the 4th group, the Wenachees, was added, our usual proportion has been four cabins (about 40 campers) per group. To keep that same proportion with our new capacity of 200 campers every session, it was time to create a new group. This summer we introduced the Tawakas. The new group is already creating its own traditions, and we can't wait to see how it continues to become part of the Camp Deer Run story going forward.
All in all, it was an incredible summer full of unique Deer Run fun, spiritual growth, and friendship. We are so blessed to see the ways God continues to work through this place over the years, and we are grateful for his blessings over the summer of 2019.
