Campus Plans, Prayer Needs
Our Tuskegee University and Auburn University campus ministries are hitting the ground running!  "I'm excited to see the lasting effects that the ministry will have," said Jaylen Parks, about TU. "Being my senior year, I would like to see how the ministry is changing since my first year here. We plan to do a lot this year, with different ways of reaching out to everyone."
Both the TU and AU ministries have tried something different with the start of school by handing out popsicles as they share with students. "It's been a good way to get people together around the same task," said Ethan Mobley, who leads the AU group.

The outreach so far seems to be effective.  "We had a good turnout at Bible Talk this week, with good conversation," said TU student Timira Taylor, regarding the Bible talk that was held on Tuesday evening at 7 PM.

Other plans include instituting a chapter of Alpha Omega at TU, and setting up fellowship times with the Huntsville campus ministry.

"We are excited to grow as a campus ministry, become an official organization on campus, and visit other campus ministries together," said Timira.

The Auburn University Bible talk is being held on Tuesdays at 3:30 PM.  This year the AU group has more disciples, and that means that they are learning how to mature into new roles.  "We have a new disciple now," said Ethan, "and I am excited about learning how to disciple him. Also, I'm very focused on the mission to keep this going as a campus after people graduate."

We want to be focused on this mission too, Add campus to your 9:38 list of prayer needs!!  The fields are ripe for harvest everywhere, and there are a lot of open students at college!  But our campus disciples need prayers to be strong in their own faith and relationships with one another, in order to be effective in reaching out to others.

"Pray for balance/discipline with our time, and to put God first above all else," said AU grad student Taylor Wilson.  "Also pray for unity within the campus, that we can cultivate deeper friendships."

"Pray that we all do well in school, especially the seniors," said Jaylen.  "And that we grow in love for one another."

Ethan requested, "Pray for us to be humble and to have good priorities, especially with our time."
TU students gather on the first day of school to pray.
Events to Remember
The Parenting Workshop has been scheduled for Sunday, September 8, after church.  Three couples will share, "What I Most Want to Pass On About Parenting".  These couples are Bill and Alicia Hames, Ernest and Paulette Lawson, and Ken and Kat Watson.
The session will also include a time to share needs and pray for one another. Bring money to contribute towards ordering pizza for lunch, so that the Workshop can start right after church. SIngles and campus members have volunteered to watch the children during the event.  (Stock photo by badski007 on Pixabay.)
The Strength in Weakness Weekend on LGBTQ issues will be at North River on Sept. 13-15, featuring Guy Hammond and Brandon Redler.  Friday at 7 PM there will be a documentary with a Q&A afterwards. Saturday at 2 PM, there will be a class on reaching out to LGBTQ and helping them to stay faithful. Saturday evening's talks are geared for the whole family, "Homosexuality 101: Understanding the Basics,"  and "The T in LGBTQ,"  and will cost $5/person or $10/family.
The Married Ministry will be getting together for fellowship and lunch after church on Sunday, Sept.15.
Campus and singles, on Nov. 2, the Haven Rock church in Birmingham is going to BE KIND AND REWIND with a 90's party that you’ll never forget, featuring a live DJ, games, great food, fellowship, and fun!  This is a costume party, so dress up as your favorite Rugrats, or any 90’s icon, or just show up looking totally rad with your best windbreaker, fanny pack or overalls!
