Down for the Cause(s)

September arrives and its time to get serious. Just as it comes up to two years from my sister’s end-stage cancer diagnosis and the recent news that another friend has developed cancer, I am honored to be showing at the Gallery with a Cause at the New Mexico Cancer Center. It opens on  Friday, September 6, 6-8:30pm. 40% of sales go to the New Mexico Cancer Foundation which distributes the money to help the patients themselves!

Meanwhile Ghostwolf artists present “Earth & Sky” an exploration of the landscape and our precious natural resources and I’ve begun a series called Postcards to America which explores on a state-by-state basis many of the ills that continue to trouble our country.

Join me at the New Mexico Cancer Center, 4901 Lang Avenue NE, on Friday, September 6th from 6-8:30pm and vote for your favorite artist! Remember that 40% of sales go to the foundation to help the financial needs of patients undergoing treatment. A cause that is near and dear to my heart.

If you miss the opening and Friday,  stop by on Wednesday, October 30th from 6-7:30pm for an informative walk and talk with the curator and the artists who will speak about their work and answers questions.

My work is in the front conference room, so look for me there!

Postcards to America

While continuing with the Art of the I Ching series which reflects my inner journey in understanding this crazy world, the Postcards to America series reflects my response to the harsh realities of our social/political life. As a person I have an immediate emotional response to events; as a visual artist it takes longer for me to respond visually to these disturbing events as they take on a cummulative life of their own in my psyche. I have completed two and am working on a third in a series that will take me through the 50 states.

Special Thanks!

Thanks again to the City of Albuquerque Cultural Services and Public Art departments and Homewise for supporting Roe LiBretto and I as we completed the Orpheum Community Hub mural on the southeast corner of Coal and 2nd Street in downtown Albuquerque. The dedication was very sweet with an amazing turnout of friends, supporters and people from the Barelas neighborhood, especially on a Monday afternoon in blazing August heat. Also many thanks Courtney Allen and KRQE for featuring the mural linked HERE.
