Dear JLCV Members:
It is hard to believe that it is September already, but I am so excited to get our League year started! We have so many folks working on things for the League that the excitement is palpable. We had some fantastic recruitment events this August and have some great women interested in joining us- thank you to all members who were able to attend those sip & see events and a big thank you to Aimee Stephenson (New Member Chair) for organizing!

If you are interested in joining the League, you are more than welcome to join us and get to know some of our amazing women!

Signature Fundraiser and Community Nights
The Fundraising Committee is hard at work planning several exciting events, all of which will be discussed at the September GMM. Stay tuned for details and ways that you can help make these events successful!
Grant Opportunities
If you are aware of upcoming grant opportunities through community agencies, your employer, or other organizations, please be in touch with Jenn Papillo, JLCV Treasurer. JLCV has been very fortunate to secure substantial funding through the direct efforts of our members. We’d love to expand our grant writing efforts, and rely on our members to accomplish this work.
Employer Donation Programs
If you are a State employee, JLCV has recently been approved as a VtSHARES partner. Please consider directing a contribution to the Annual Fund through regular payroll deductions.
Many employers also offer matching gift programs. Before making a gift to JLCV’s Annual Fund, please inquire about this possibility. Charity Clark, Annual Fund Chair, or Jenn Papillo, Treasurer, can provide documentation of JLCV’s tax exempt status, if needed.

Amazon Smile
Support the league by shopping on Amazon Smile. Visit smile.amazon.com and log in. Go to "your account" and then "select my charity." Select "Champlain Valley Junior Service League Inc" from the menu. It's that easy! Remember to make all of your Amazon purchases and subscriptions via smile.amazon.com, and support the league every time you shop!

Purchasing and Reimbursement Protocol
The Board approved an updated Purchasing Policy. Of important note, JLCV will no longer pay for (or reimburse) sales tax on purchases. Members may use Form S-3 to make tax exempt purchases on behalf of the League, or, for vendors who JLCV has established preferred purchasing accounts with – currently Amazon.com, Staples, Uprinting.com, and Vistaprint – may submit a Preferred Vendor Purchase Request to treasurer@jlcv.org. All reimbursement requests must be accompanied by a Reimbursement Request and itemized receipt.

The diaper bank committee is super excited to start a new year -- in November we will cross the threshold of distributing 100,000 diapers, which is an exciting milestone! Our next distribution is in mid-September and we have two opportunities in the next two weeks to prepare for that. We've been busy this summer laying the groundwork for advocacy efforts, installing new shelving, and preparing to receive our large donation. Just last week our loading dock was fixed so we are hoping to receive about 15-20 pallets of diapers in the next two weeks. I know that life is crazy with the beginning of the school year but if there's any possibility of help unloading and inventory-ing (and please recruit family/friends) this one particularly will take a village! Check out the JLCV Facebook for posts when we have more information. Once the diapers are in our operations should return to normal a bit.
The calendar has been set through the end of the year so check it out and please sign up. Diaper Need Awareness week is coming up September 23-29 and we've been working with the communications team on some social media posts -- when you see them please share those as well.
If you haven't already, like and follow our JLCV Diaper Bank Facebook page. Invite friends, family, and co-workers to like the page and learn more about the diaper bank and diaper need in Vermont.
