Olivia has ran in the Westpac City-Bay every year since she was in primary school. This year, since connecting with the MS Society, she is running and fundraising for Team MS.

Report: Living with Multiple Sclerosis in 2019

MS Australia, with MS Society SA/NT and other state MS organisations, has released the report discussing needs of people living with MS, their families and carers. This report will help us provide the right services and support to people living with MS. A big thank you to all who participated in this important project by completing the survey!

MS Society Annual General Meeting

The MS Society SA/NT annual general meeting is coming up in October and we are now seeking nominations for people with professional expertise or lived experience of MS to join the Board.

If you are interested in nominating someone to join the MS Society SA/NT Board, please fill out the nomination form and email to nominations@ms.asn.au. Nominations close Tuesday 17 September, 5pm.

MS Readathon raises over $1.2 million

Thanks to overwhelming support for our first year back with the MS Readathon, we had over 1,600 kids participate and raise over $100,000 for families living with MS in South Australia and Northern Territory!

Nationally, the MS Readathon raised over $1.2 million.

Disclosing your MS at work

Whether or not you decide to disclose your MS to your employer is your choice, but the decision isn’t always simple. It should be based on your own needs and priorities, and the effect of your symptoms on your daily work duties.

Youngcare’s At Home Care Grants

Grants are available for people aged 18-65 with high care needs who are living at home, and at risk of entering inappropriate housing. Apply for a one-off funding of up to $10,000 to help with equipment, home modifications and essential support/respite. Applications close Wednesday 11 September.

Quick test could help detect changes in thinking and memory

Up to 65% of people with MS have issues with thinking and memory. It's important to pick up cognitive changes earlier, to lead to better long-term outcomes for people with MS. A new web-based cognitive test was found to be reliable, sensitive, and quick and easy to complete.

Promoting the survival of myelin-producing cells

In MS there is a loss of myelin in the brain and spinal cord. Myelin can be repaired but currently, there are no treatment options that can repair myelin damage for people with progressive MS. Australian researchers have found a method to promote the production of myelin in the brain.

Sessions led by experienced neurological physiotherapist. Learn exercises and strategies to improve your balance and mobility. Reduce your risk of falling in this six week course.
