Deputy First Minister visits Inver Racers

The Inver Racers, the Greenpower race team from Inverclyde  were visited this week by the Deputy First Minister John Swinney at the Greenock campus of West College Scotland. John was so impressed with the team he made a donation to their fundraising and made a short video. The team still need your help to raise more money for the Greenpower International Final in Silverstone in October where they will be racing against teams from all over the world including China and the USA. These funds go towards racing costs, entry fees, transport and more!

We are looking for a couple more BA's - if you can commit an hour every week or 2 in school, then please get in touch - renfrewshire@yes.org.uk (schools who need a BA are Renfrew High, St Ninian's HS & St Luke's.)

See you there!

Could you offer a work placement?

DYW West are supporting West College Scotland by helping source employers who would be interested in offering a work placement to a Foundation Apprentice (FA) student. This would be only one day per week,  from Sep/Oct to May and could help a young person be better prepared for their future career. We are looking for engineering companies in particular to get involved. The young people are in 6th year at school. FA's are at the same level as Highers and recognised by all college and universities in Scotland. They are a great way of young people pursuing a qualification in a career they are interested in and get that much needed relevant work experience.

If you can help please get in touch by emailing info@dywwest.co.uk
