Meet a WE Biker: Diane Jones Randall

Every volunteer brings something special to our organization. And WE count on them—whether they’re leading our rides or writing our newsletters or responding to mail or building our website. This month's volunteer is Diane Jones Randall, our Director of Online Media and PR. Get to know the person behind our social media posts here:

What was your first WE Bike NYC ride?
The Annie Londonderry ride during SummerStreets 2012! I was so impressed to learn that the ride was named for the first woman to bicycle around the world back in 1894.

What's your favorite route?
I love riding on the waterfront, so taking the west side Greenway from Battery Park to the Little Red Lighthouse at the George Washington Bridge is a favorite route for me.

What do you ride?
I have a Trek Lexa SLX road bike, a Trek Verve 3 hybrid and a vintage 3-speed Raleigh. And Citi Bikes right outside my door!

Why do you love WE Bike NYC?
WE Bike NYC has given me an opportunity to serve myself AND my community. I love that biking makes for a strong body and an economical commute. But I also love that my work with WE Bike NYC has taught me to redefine my community and understand the intersectionality of my world as a cyclist. I ride as an African American. As a woman. As a baby boomer. As a New Yorker. And it’s wonderful to share the roads and the joys of cycling with all of those groups. And to introduce that joy to so many more!

WE Can't Do It Without You!

WE Bike NYC is now an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. WE are still entirely volunteer-run, but it takes money for us to maintain our current standards of operation.

If you are looking for a way to support fun, free, noncompetitive bicycle events and programming specifically for women, please consider donating to WE Bike NYC!
