How State and Local Governments Promote and Proclaim SepticSmart Week

Each year, EPA and the Decentralized MOU Partners encourage state and local governments/ leaders to promote SepticSmart Week by issuing a SepticSmart Week Proclamation. A SepticSmart Week Proclamation is intended to encourage all homeowners and business owners with septic systems to utilize the SepticSmart program to educate themselves on the proper maintenance of their systems, and ensure appropriate treatment and disposal of wastewater. In 2016, 15 state governors, mayors, and county officials issued SepticSmart Week Proclamations. This webinar explains what a SepticSmart Week Proclamation is, and outlines the steps of getting a proclamation from state, county, or local officials.
