Dyslexia Awareness Week 2019

Calling all dyslexic artists

Would you like to showcase your artwork for dyslexia awareness week?
We are looking for artwork by dyslexic artists* (children to adults) for a celebration of being dyslexic through art.

Join Wayne Hill, Riverton artist, and other artists for this Southland first idea.

*You do not need to be formally identified as dyslexic.

Artwork included is at the discretion of Learning Differences Aotearoa Trust.

 
Early Identification Survey
We appreciate those who have already sent in their replies and for the information you are providing. We will use this information to help us access funding to complete this project.
 
We are also looking for more survey results relating to our Early Identification for Dyslexia Project.

Dyspraxia and Sensory Processing Issues
 
We are excited to bring to Invercargill experts to provide information on dyspraxia and sensory processing difficulties and the links to dyslexia, ADHD and autism for parents, educators and professionals.

We will shortly be opening bookings for these workshops. Keep an eye on our

The speakers are Emma Ratcliff, Occupational Therapist from
Making Sense, Auckland and Jacqui Scott and Greta Spearing from Dyspraxia Support Association NZ, Christchurch.

Professionals and Support Agencies
Friday 25 th October 2019
Session One: 9.00am to 11.30am
Session Two: 12.30pm to 3pm
Venue: Invercargill Working Mens Club

These sessions will cover Dyspraxia 101 (diagnosis and support of child with dyspraxia), dyspraxia and sensory processing difficulties in the school environment, classroom strategies to support the student and practical information about how to ‘see it’, who to refer to, how to meet the students you work with.

Costs and venue to be advised. We hope to obtain funding to make this professional development opportunity affordable for professionals, parents and educators

Spring Expo

We will have a display table at the upcoming Spring Expo. Come along to chat with Adele and Chris, look at resources or guess how many letters are in the jar to win a prize. We look forward to seeing you.
Eastern Southland Dyslexia Support Meeting
