About Us
150ish is a free weekly newsletter that brings you all the dish on local food artisans working within 150 miles–more or less–of New York City.
We love to share our passion about great local resources with our friends and families–and 150ish is our way to share that passion with everyone. Each week we feature a food product from our 150ish area: we buy the products, we taste the products, and we only tell you about what we like.
From the latest entrepreneurial food incubators to the unsung classics we've loved for generations, we bring you the best of the boroughs,
the tri-state area,
and beyond-ish. |

Heading into Labor Day...
The dog days of summer may not be over
August 29, 2019 | Photo courtesy Christopher Testani
This upcoming three-day weekend is Labor Day. The unofficial end of hot dog season, according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council. Time to celebrate one last backyard barbecue with friends and family wearing your seersucker or white pants before they get packed away until next year.
Here’s the Dish: This Labor Day I’m taking the holiday seriously, I’ll be enjoying the day away from work, unplugging, and resting up because on Tuesday, well, you know what happens! Maybe you’ll be doing the same.
As part of the celebration there’s no article this week. We’ll be back next week. Enjoy the weekend and don’t dismay, most of us here in the 150ish region will still be celebrating the very best time of the year for cooking and eating. Summer’s not really ending just yet, we’ll be eating corn and tomatoes, making chowders, grilling fresh fish and burgers, and drinking watermelon cilantro fresca’s beyond this weekend.
Happy Labor Day.
PS: Reminding all those who partake–make a BLT with those juicy tomatoes! Follow these rules to make the best BLTs. |
