My dear Parish Family,

Happy Labor Day! I am in Tucson, Arizona, this weekend, for the Italian Catholic Federation Annual Convention. Parish life happens all the time, even in the summer months but seems to get a jump start after Labor Day.

The big parish community event that lies around the corner at Santa Teresa is the Festival - Country Jamboree on October 5th and 6th (Saturday and Sunday).  To make this event a huge success as in the past we need your participation. Please invite your friends, neighbors and family members to join you on the first weekend of October. On October 5th, we will open our Festival with a blessing of animals, parade and magic show.

To give you advance notice for planning purposes, I will be having an orientation on September 14th at 9:30 am in Avila Hall, where you will get information on future trips and pilgrimages in 2020 and 2021. Again, your participation is important whether you want to join us for these pilgrimages or there are friends and family members who might be interested in getting information on one or other upcoming pilgrimages.

The first is called a 11-Day Pilgrimage to Marian Shrines and Barcelona, in October 2020. Places and shrines included on this trip are: Lisbon, Fatima, Santiago de Compostela, Avila, Alba de Tormes, Burgos, Loyola, Lourdes (France), Zaragoza, Montserrat and Barcelona with the Sagrada Familia.

The second is called a 12-Day Pilgrimage to the Holy Land and Rome, in February 2021. Places and Holy Sites included on this trip are: Mt. Tabor, Cana, Nazareth, Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Jordan Valley, Jericho, Qumran, Dead Sea, Bethlehem, Ein Karem, Jerusalem and the Eternal City of Rome with a general Papal Audience with Pope Francis.

The third is called a 12-Day Pilgrimage to Eastern Europe, in September, 2021. Places and Sites included on this trip are: Warsaw, Niepokolanow, Lodz, Wadowice (birth place of St Pope John Paul II), St Faustina and Divine Mercy Church, Czestochowa, Auschwitz, Krakow, Wieliczka, Prague, Melk, Vienna and Budapest.

I will have brochures with detailed itineraries for all upcoming pilgrimages.

Creating a Culture of Vocations

Don’t forget to sign up for your family to participate!

As we continue to create a culture of vocation in our parish we are asking for one family from every Mass to sign up to pray the vocation prayer daily promoting a culture of vocations for an entire week.  Then that family will bring it back to Mass so that Father can present it to the next family.  There is a signup sheet in the vestibule to pick a date and Mass time for your family.

The prayer is on the front page of our bulletins or you can pick up prayer cards in the vestibule basket under the signup sheet.

This last week the Vocation Cross was given to Vacation Bible Camp.  Here is a photo of Nicole giving Fr. George the VBC T-shirt.
The vigil is being held in solidarity with
the migrants who have died
attempting to cross the border
between the US and Mexico.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
"I have called You by Name, You are Mine"
... an invitation to join the journey.

Life is a journey that continually searches for meaning. The human heart hungers for relationships that nurture one’s maturity and ability to love and to be loved. Often as one seeks to fulfill these very human yearnings, the realization that something is missing from life is made. As one reflects upon this void, it is not unusual to discover that this something is God. This awakening may lead to a turning point in one’s life to commit to a relationship with God and seek out a worshipping community to guide one’s journey in faith. Many will ask the question: How can I become a Catholic?

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the normal way for unbaptized persons and those who have been baptized in another Christian tradition to become a Catholic t brings you to Jesus Christ who is our Lord and Savior.  An Inquiry Session will be held on Tuesday, September 3rd at at 7:30 p.m. in the St. John of the Cross Conference Room (the conference room is attached to the parish office - across from Mary's Garden).

If you would like to learn more about the RCIA Process please contact Lynda DeManti at 408-839-3163 or email Lynda@santateresachurch.com.
Each Week we will offer a suggestion on how each of us
can take small steps to work harder to care for
the resources of our earth.

By the end of the year each us could take 52
small steps for the
“Care of Our Common Home”.

Track Your Use of Paper and Disposable Products

This week, watch how much you use paper plates, disposable utensils and straws. See what of those items you can replace with reusable Tupperware and flatware that you can take with you. The Brand “TO GO WAREwww.to-goware.com sells reusable bamboo forks, spoons, and knives. When our cell phones or computers don’t work as they should, we are told to “hard re-set” them.  That means literally turning the power off and restarting them.  Our spiritual lives are the same.  Sometimes things are not working as they should and we need to do something.  Come and re-set your spiritual life.  Fr. Brendan will use his experience as a former executive from the IT world to guide people working in the tech industry through a re-set procedure for our spiritual life.  You can register at www.jrclosaltos.org or call 408-917-4010.  The Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos,  300 Manresa Way Los Altos, CA 94022
