women's equality day

ICYMI: Monday was Women's Equality Day, a day to commemorate the passing of the 19th Amendment on August 26, 1920, which granted women in the U.S. the right to vote.

Today, we celebrate the heroes of the women's suffrage movement, who worked for 72 years before they ultimately achieved this historic milestone. (That's what we call persistence.)

And yet, the fight for full equality continued well past August 26, 1920. Women of color remained largely disenfranchised until the Voting Rights Act passed in 1965. It wasn't until 1988 that women were able to take out a business loan without a male relative as a co-signer.

While the number of Women Owned businesses in the U.S. has surged dramatically over the last 30 years, they still only account for 8 percent of all employment and 4.3 percent of all revenues.

There's still much work to do! That's why we are building a movement of support for Women Owned businesses. Because when you #BuyWomenOwned, you invest in women's economic empowerment and further the movement for true equality.
