Sometimes wisdom comes from unexpected quarters. Take for instance my youngest daughter, who recently told her mum: “I’m going to see where my mistakes take me.”

She’s an artistic girl, and I think that her art has helped her to learn the value of going with mistakes rather than trying to work against them.

But perhaps it’s more simple. Maybe one reason that the young learn so much more quickly than the old, is that they’re much less concerned about making mistakes, and when they do make mistakes, they understand that they can learn from them.
