We hope you are having a safe, fun and relaxing summer; but September is just around the corner. With the break in the heat waves, you can count on the start of another exciting Orpheus Season - our 148th.

Endless Summer Welcome Back Party
Saturday, September 7th
Noon to 4pm at the Corinthian Yacht Club

By now you should have received several email announcements for this upcoming event and tickets are going fast. This will be a family-friendly event, with access to the Corinthian Yacht Club pool, a sumptuous BBQ luncheon, open bar, and entertainment by your favorite Orpheus singers.

Key Events of the New Season
Quartet Contest Finals (judged by Associates)
Saturday, November 2nd at the Clubhouse
Come join us to hear some close-harmony a cappella singing at its best. Vote to select the winners (who will appear in the Mid-Winter Concert) and then enjoy cocktails while mingling with all our talented contestants. SAVE THE DATE and look for a separate email in the Fall to buy your tickets.

New Associate Member Welcome Party
Thursday, November 21st
Twice a year, we invite each new Associate Member (and a guest) to this FREE cocktail party at the Clubhouse to meet the other members of your “Class”. Stand for the Class Portrait, get a tour (if desired), hear some valuable insider tips, and enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and live entertainment. Yes, there's a singalong. Associate Members who proposed new members are also invited to this exclusive event.

If you’re a new member who has not attended this event in the past, please contact the office to ensure you are on the invitation list. If you're unavailable this time around, there's another New Member Party in the spring Thursday, May 14th. MARK YOUR CALENDARS.

Christmas Concert, Academy of Music
Wednesday, December 11th
I think we all agree that this event is the REAL start of the Philadelphia holiday season; and we’re putting together a varied program that will not disappoint. Mark the date, line up your guests, dust off your sequins and locate your Orpheus Colors. We’ll all be coming together to share an evening of music that’s lyrical and majestic, amusing and stirring. Keep the tradition alive and help us fill the house again!

Summer Highlight Events
Let Freedom Ring - July 4, 2019
Twenty Orpheus singers assembled in the shadows of historic Independence Hall to add a patriotic soundtrack to this national birthday party tradition. There were stirring sights and sounds as pipers (with members of the First City Troop) led the Color Guard parade of the Sons of the Revolution.

After the speeches, more songs, and an engaging historical re-enactment, direct descendants of signers of the Declaration (and several newly-minted U.S. citizens) proceeded to the Liberty Bell. At precisely 2pm, they ceremonially tapped The Bell while all across the country, local church steeples came alive and spread the sounds of Freedom!
As always, we were proud to be a major part of the celebration (and thanks to new singing member Michael Mariano for the excellent photographs).

Associate Member Birthday
On July 20th, members of the Orpheus small group, The Rat Pack, got to help celebrate another birthday on a somewhat smaller scale. Associate John Gibson took advantage of his membership benefit to engage us to entertain his 92-year old mother with a set of “standards” from the 20’s and 30’s in her Gladwyne apartment. Thank to “Libby” for being a wonderful, attentive audience. Many Happy Returns!

Songs of the Sea Bermuda Cruise
By all accounts, everyone who launched from Bayonne on July 7 safely made it to Bermuda and back - and had a simply smashing time along the way. This happy throng of almost forty Associate and Singing Members (and families) enjoyed fun and games during the day, and cocktails and choruses in the evening. It was all capped off by wonderful sightseeing and a very special club party in Bermuda.

It felt just right to kick back and take in the salt air.

We want to give special thanks to Commodore Win Dougherty and his wife Nancy for their warm hospitality each evening in the “Orpheus Lounge”. A place where everybody knew your name and even your favorite beverage!

New Online Portal
As you may have heard, for our 148th Season of the Orpheus Club of Philadelphia, we will begin to use a new online portal for many different Orpheus Membership activities.
If you are a current Associate Member, your account has already been created for you. However, we need you to choose a username and password.
After clicking on the button below, enter your primary email address in the input box and click the "Send Recovery Email" button. You will then be emailed a link to set a new password for your account.

After confirming your account you can visit https://orpheusclub.org/login to access your account again via login.
Within our new portal you will be able to perform many different actions with great convenience:
- RSVP for Orpheus Club Events, Performances, and Celebrations
- Purchasing Orpheus colors, including ties, cummerbunds, rosettes, etc.
- Updating your address, phone number, EMAIL and contact preferences
- Renew your membership and pay your annual dues
The system implementation will be gradually rolling out over the course of this season, but you can access your Orpheus Club account NOW!

New Event?
If you don’t play an instrument but do sing in the shower, are you ready to get up in front of an audience of your equally brave (or well-lubricated) peers? Would you like to join us for an evening of cocktails, fun and special music at CLUBHOUSE KARAOKE?
We’re considering a Friday or Saturday night in mid-April, but we need to understand the level of Associate Member interest. If you think that sounds like fun and would expect to attend, please send me a brief email at tratner@comcast.net with your preferred phone number. Let’s unleash those inner crooners, divas and rock stars!
