This has been an exciting week for many reasons. I wrapped up an 80-hour water fast on Wednesday. I attempt to do time-based eating regularly and do one of these quarterly. I like to say 'time-based eating' because people go crazy over the word 'fasting.' It sounds impossible for them. There are many benefits for intermittent fasting as well as multi-day fasts. I am not a doctor, so don't take my word for it, but here is an excellent short video, and a longer one that might get you thinking about it if you haven't already.
► Speaking of out-of-the-box stuff, I have been attempting to 'slow my roll' on technology. It's not as easy as Cal Newport makes it sound in Digital Minimalism, which I enjoyed, but it's worth a shot. Part of that effort is limiting my news consumption through social media. To help get short summarizations, I listen to two excellent podcasts - one for news highlights called The NewsWorthy and one for important technology highlights called Techmeme Ride Home. That said, I would love to find similar 'recap' podcasts for Sports and the NFL if you have any suggestions.
► My Linkedin post of my career path going forward has received some warm feedback. Thank you for that. The photography book, POLICE: Brotherhood in Uniform Around the World, has also gotten a great reception. I speak about it in detail in this week's 10-minute podcast episode. ► I have gotten many requests since I have been home about my experiences with back pain and traveling. Some of my friends know of my major surgery six years ago, but others might not. It's pretty crazy that I could travel as I did with everything I went through for years. I am going to discuss it in detail in an upcoming podcast and blog post. Are there any other topics like that you want to hear about or discuss? I am open to ideas.
► I am heading to Jamaica (Kingston side) in a few weeks if any of you have good ideas on food places or adventure spots I should hit. I will be with a local, but sometimes we overlook the things that are right in front of us.
