SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
Living Wallpaper, an exhibition from illustrator Ottilie Hainsworth.

Our latest Window Gallery exhibition is from studio artist Ottilie Hainsworth. Ottilie's cut-out pieces are inspired by the Phoenix Art Space and its surroundings. Using pen, ink, collage and print techniques to produce her artwork, she creates graphic stories and narratives.
We asked Ottilie some questions about her practice and her exhibition. Have a read here
Living Wallpaper continues until 22 September.
Join us for the preview of our inaugural Community Takeover on 20 September 6-9. Our gallery will become a dedicated space for Phoenix community projects to be created, showcased and celebrated. Our street art project will grow from outside our building onto the gallery walls to give local young people an opportunity to tell us more about who they are. Phoenix artists will offer portrait-based creative activities for everyone that will transform the space into an evolving visual representation of ourselves, our neighbors and our visitors. Come along, join in and be part of our community!

A Message from Phoenix Art Space director Sarah Davies
I am pleased to be writing to you about our September news, as well as our fresh new branding. As of this month, we will be known as Phoenix Art Space, a name we feel better represents us as an arts organisation that is present not only within the gallery and studio space, but within our local community as well. Whether you are enjoying one of our creative arts courses, a gallery exhibition, or attending one of our lively events, everything we offer supports the creative process. We have had a colourful and artistic summer here, one that has included the Leap Then Look children’s workshops, as well as our annual arts Summer School – see our Instagram page @phoenix_artspace for the film and photographs taken throughout the two weeks. This month we throw open our doors for the inaugural Community Takeover (21 Sept-13 Oct) and we welcome everyone to come and take part, have family portraits photographed, as well as other activities during the exhibition and throughout the autumn season.

Until next time,
Sarah.
