To our Thursday counsellor Zena Shardlow who after much hard work and dedication has passed her counselling course and is now a qualified counsellor.

“Our Young Carers have made the front page of the Echo!
 
As well as putting on our Forest School Summer Club during the holidays and our Bounce Village Party this weekend to give our Young Carers some much needed holiday respite, 3 of our YC's have also been attending the "We Love Southend" Spoken Word/Slam Poetry Workshop with rapper Sonny Green.

Young Carers After School Club - Starting in September
Following on from the popularity of our Forest School Summer Club, we’ve decided to make it our new Weekly After School Club for the first half of the Autumn Term.  

Summer holidays Forest School was a HUGE Success

Southend Adult Community College (SACC) are Southend Borough Council’s provider of adult education and provides education and training to more than 5,000 learners.

They provide part-time leisure courses, English, maths, employability courses, vocational qualifications and industry specific training for adults and for young people (16+) apprenticeships and full-time vocational programmes.

Active Life
Active life are working with Trustlinks to deliver a weekly yoga session for Carers.
  • The free session takes place every Tuesday morning at Trustlinks Westcliff. All abilities welcome at this friendly informal session.

The Disabled Living Foundation do NOT sell any products but CAN help you find the people that do.

If you are a parent or carer of a disabled child, or a healthcare professional looking for ideas, advice and information about daily living equipment from a source you can trust, you've come to the right place.




 
Marvellous Family Grants are for families facing financial hardship while caring for a child with a serious illness.

They provide support to help families cope, from funding specialist equipment and creative therapies to hospital travel expenses.



 

At Children Today they are proud to help change the lives of children and young people with disabilities across the UK every day.

By providing grants for vital, specialised equipment to families in need, they aim to help give these children more independence and the best possible quality of life.



 

They help families across the UK who are raising a disabled or seriously ill child or young person aged 17 or under. 

 
What's coming up in September...
Take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning
Gather your fellow tea and coffee drinkers and cake munchers and sign up today to host your Coffee Morning.

Every penny raised helps them be right there for people living with cancer.  So join them this year, on Friday 27th September 2019.
Jeans for Genes Day Monday 16 - Fri 20 September
Jeans for Genes Day is the annual fundraising campaign for Genetic Disorders UK, the national charity that supports individuals and families affected by a genetic disorder.

Monies raised on Jeans for Genes Day fund the work of the charity and provide grants to organisations for projects that aim to transform the lives of children with genetic disorders.

Walk Together is back this September, and it’s bigger and better than ever!  
  • The London event takes place on Saturday 14 September 2019
  • Virtual WalkNew for this year is their virtual Walk anytime, where you can complete five miles in your own time, anytime, during the month of September.

 
Monthly Saturday morning film club for folk with learning disabilities - Saturday 7th September

Art Doesn't Discriminate (ADD) Southend is working partnership with Project 49 to put on a monthly Saturday morning film club for folk with learning disabilities and their carers.

In addition to the film being shown in a 'relaxed' setting there is a separate coffee bar area where carers can sit and have a chat if they don't want to watch the film or if folk need to leave the showing for a few minutes.
Project 49 is fully accessible complete with changing facilities.

September's film will be the popular Mamma Mia squeal 'Here we go again', entrance is £5 with carers going free.
