This Sunday:

A Note from Linda:

Last Sunday we began an inquiry regarding the nature and manifestation of a flourishing life—what exactly does a flourishing life look like? What criteria do we use to determine our vision of a flourishing life? We introduce the work of Professor Miroslav Volf and his work at the Yale Center for Faith and Culture whose mission is "to critically examine and promote practices of faith which advance authentic human flourishing and the global common good."  By "flourishing life," says Volf, "we mean the good toward which humans are meant to strive. It names not so much things we desire, but the ultimate goal of our striving and the values that determine what is truly worth desiring."
What is truly worth desiring?  That may be one of the most critical questions we ask. How do our desires promote—or detract—from a flourishing life? Join us this Sunday as we continue a conversation about what Volf asserts is the entirety of the Christian faith: flourishing life—good life, true life, abundant life, or the life that really is life. I gained so much by your insights last Sunday. I hope you will join the inquiry this week. We have much to learn from one another. With so much love, Linda

Events Table:  This only takes a few minutes to set up and take down after Service.  We need a few people to alternate setting up the table each Sunday.  We have a red table cloth, sign up sheets, information about Unity, a Prayer Box, and a Suggestion Box that need to be arranged each week.  Please let Cathy know if you are interested in volunteering.

Security Team:  Please volunteer to keep our Church safe.  The Security team goes through the building making sure doors are secure and monitors the camera during Service to see if any latecomers need to be let in the front door.  If you are interested, please see Jerry after Service.

Spiritual Education Classes Online

Rev. Eileen Ramsey will be teaching "Alternatives"
Tuesdays, Sept. 3 - Oct. 1 at 7 pm

As we mature, so should our ideas about Religion and Spirituality.  During this five-week class, participants will examine the thinking behind traditional Christian beliefs, and consider nontraditional perspectives.  Designed as a beginning exploration of our spiritual understanding, this interactive and experiential course may strengthen some long-held beliefs about “God”, “Jesus Christ”, “Heaven”, “Hell”, etc., and shed new light on others. Even if you missed the first class, you can still join! If you need S.E.E. credit, you will have an extra assignment

Cathy Schwanke, LUT will be teaching "Unity Prayer"
Mondays, Oct. 7 through Nov. 4th at 7 pm

Affirmative meditative prayer is at the heart of the Unity spiritual path. The Unity way of prayer is ultimately aimed at the experience of the Divine and Realization of the practitioner’s Divine Potential. Along the way, there are practical benefits, including guidance, healing, and abundance. In this course, students are introduced to Unity’s Five-Step Prayer Process and supported in developing their daily prayer practice.

The Bucket of Hope: Final month to support The Caring Place

This is the final month in this quarter to support The Caring Place.   The Caring Place provides financial assistance, clothing, food, financial training, and many many more services.

The Caring Place has requested the following items:

Toothbrushes - Toothpaste - Deodorant - Cereal of all kinds

We now have an ongoing collection for the Ronald McDonald House.  You can help support the Ronald McDonald House by collecting the little tabs you pull to open soda, soup or other aluminum cans. The funds generated from recycling these aluminum gems help offset the House's expenses such as their electric bill. There is a jar on the events table in the back of the Sanctuary to deposit your tabs.
