Aug 2019 - Sales, VA press, 3D art, Liebers, Herstory & Labor

It’s been a wonderful month of art shows and fun. I’ve barely had time to enjoy the fantastic free music concerts hosted by our fair city. Hope you have. The Sabrosa event was a big success! Sold 6 pieces – weeee! Jan Ebert, my first piano teacher, purchased two of my musical themed paintings. And it looks like 2 large paintings are on hold to sell. Make sure you get there for a meal. Sabrosa was just voted one of the Top 5 Cafes in MKE - YAY! I also had several more truck art commissions. So I’m doing a big artist happy dance. The veterans exhibit at Northwestern Mutual Tower was also wonderful. One of our members, Shelly Lopez, was featured in an interview. Bravo! I am so thrilled our program is touching lives and making a difference! SEE VIDEO

I was really happy with the 3D art I created for the ‘Thin Black Line’ show at the Art*Bar. I plan to do more layered art like this. And it's indoor / outdoor for more fun. All 4 of my exhibits continue throughout September! Get out and see some art, and not just mine. I'm so excited for Don Krause, Art*Bar owner, who is expanding his business to include a new restaurant called Wonderland! I had a private tour and heard his thoughts on menu and general operating ideas. Keep a look out. It's opening soon, and I know it's going to be a winner - Congrats, Don!

Tonight is the start of the annual Lieber Family reunion. Marco and Marianne are arriving from Germany – just for the weekend – what jet-setters! We will be celebrating both of their birthdays with a gang of 25-30 relatives in Spring Green. Party with the Krauts!

Just saw a remarkable list of 9 things a women could not do in 1971. Know your Herstory. It’s 2019 and women do not have the right to equal pay.  How crazy is that? Keep up the fight, we still have a long way to go. Domestic violence is the most common killer of women around the world. READ!  This is appalling. We must break the cycle and demand that lawmakers reinstate the violence against women ban. Here is an interesting timeline of Labor History key events. Thank you to all who continue the fight for workers rights and a living wage. Power to the People!

Happy Labor Day!
Anita
