Empowering children and teens to embrace and express their inherent divinity.

Director's Note

Enjoy the fruits of your labor.  Organized labor is not the only thing we celebrate and honor this holiday weekend.  It's a time of appreciation of "the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country."  It doesn't matter if you're blue-collar, white-collar, or no-collar -- the work you do prospers our community and our nation.  So as you grill that burger in the backyard or walk the shores of Lake Michigan for one last time before fall, acknowledge your own hard work -- and the work that you have done for your family in the past year.  Take a moment to look around and see all that your hard work has created: the prosperity you've manifested, the love and connection you've made possible.  The fruits of your labor are plenteous.  Revel in them.

UNS Youth and Family Ministry is celebrating the fruits of our labor, too, and are taking this Sunday off.

Soul School resumes on Sunday, September 8 with a 'Welcome Back to Soul School' Party that will kick off at 10:25 am in the Garden Room.  We'll see you then.

This Week's Louise Hay Power Thought Card Affirmation:  "My Thoughts are Creative.  I say "Out!" to every negative thought that comes to mind.  No person, place or thing has any power over me, for I am the only thinker in my mind.  I create my own reality and everyone in it."

Blessings,
Rev. Kate Jordan, LUT, CSE
Youth and Family Ministry Director

This Sunday in Soul School

THERE IS NO SOUL SCHOOL THIS SUNDAY.

Families are invited to worship together in the Sanctuary.

Soul School resumes on Sunday, September 8 at 10:25 am with a 'Welcome Back to Soul School' party!

Time to Complete Soul School Registration

The start of a new Soul School year means that we need updated information about your child(ren).

Click Registration to download, print and complete a Soul School Registration form for each of your children for 2019-20 and return it to me by September 8.

For their safety and ours, your child(ren)'s registration must be complete before they participate in Soul School.

It's going to be a wonderful year ... and we can't wait to get started!

Interfaith Block Party, Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 am - 4 pm

UNS is putting together an awesome event for all of our surrounding communities.  Based on the event that Kate helped produce at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Toronto, we are creating a day of love, peace, inclusion, togetherness ... and FUN!

Our partners include: Baha'is, Episcopalians, Muslims, Jains, Jews, Pagans, Hindus, Sikhs and Zoroastrians.  We'll connect, learn, play, and have a great day together.

There will be:

  • Live performances
  • Jump for Joy Bounce House
  • Interactive World Religions Walk
  • Canopy of Humanity public art project
  • Games and activities for all
  • Yoga and Guided Meditation
  • Interfaith Book Nook
  • Spiritual Playdates
  • Interfaith Bake Sale with treats from different faith traditions
We invite our teens to help run all or part of the event for the service hours needed for their retreat attendance requirement.  If interested, see Kate.

This will be an extraordinary event for you and your family and a great opportunity to expand the consciousness of the planet.  We appreciate your participation!

Click BLOCK PARTY to buy your 'Pay What You Wish' tickets (suggested: $7 each -- but feel free to give more to support the event!).  Attendees and volunteers alike will need a ticket to get an event wristband and be on site.  If you are moved to become a Sponsor of the event, there is a button on the same Unity event page that will take you to the sponsorship page.
