Lexington Safe Streets

The City of Lexington has launched a social media campaign to encourage roadway users - drivers, cyclists and pedestrians - to get around safely.

Safe Streets is a campaign designed to make Lexington’s roadways safe for all users – motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

The campaign was first launched in 2017 with social media ads, traffic box wraps, yard signs and sidewalk stencils. Later this summer, the campaign will expand to include signs with safe cycling tips at key locations and distribution of clip-on lights and reflectors to cyclists and pedestrians.

Safe Streets is funded by the City of Lexington and a Paula Nye Memorial Bicyclist and Pedestrian Education Grant. These grants are funded by sales of Kentucky’s Share the Road license plate and managed by the Kentucky Bicycle and Bikeways Commission.

Visit https://www.lexingtonky.gov/SafeStreets to learn more about the program and how you can get involved.

Lex ID Me

The Lexington Police Department needs the community's help in identifying crime suspects. Cases are featured on the LexIDme website with video or photographic evidence that links person(s) with an alleged crime, such as a theft or some other type of criminal activity.

If you recognize someone or have additional information about a case, you can submit a tip through the page. The tip will go directly to the case detective. You may also call 859-258-3600 to speak directly with an officer or submit a tip anonymously through Bluegrass Crime Stoppers.

Contact the police Public Information Office or visit www.lexingtonky.gov/lexidme for more information.

Only recycle these items.

Lexington continues the temporary suspension of its paper recycling program, but a recycling program jump-start is on the way.

Because the market is currently saturated, the city is not accepting paper for recycling. So with the exception of dry corrugated cardboard, any paper received at the recycle center will be sent to the landfill for the time being.

In the meantime, reducing paper waste as much as possible is the best solution.

Remember that plastic bottles, tin cans and dry corrugated cardboard are still recyclable.

Stay up to date on the status of Lexington's paper recyclables at lexingtonky.gov/recycleupdates
