Thank you to Elliott Large, who collected donations of money and RMHC Wish List items in honor of her fourth birthday! We are in awe of this little girl for developing a spirit of giving at such a young age. Elliott is the daughter of Kyle & Amber Large.

Denim to Diamonds Sets Fundraising Record
The 17th annual Denim to Diamonds gala, a Masquerade Ball, was held at the Topeka Ramada Inn on Saturday, August 24 with more than 400 attendees. "Thanks to an incredible selection of silent auction items and very generous giving through the Share a Night auction, we raised over $150,000 this year," commented Leslie Arnold, one of the event planning coordinators. "After expenses we kept more than $100,000 in proceeds, which is exceptional!"
Participants enjoyed the "Masquerade" theme, donning unique masks and some, elaborate costumes. This year's signature drink was a "Mischief Maker" (whiskey sour) with liquor donated by Campari Group. In keeping with the theme, the cocktail hour also featured the magic of Curtis Sneden and tarot card readings by Vicki Trembly. Cumulus-Topeka radio personalities Angie Stevens and Sean Zears did a fantastic job as our first-ever cocktail party emcees!
As the guests transitioned to the main ballroom for dinner, KSNT news anchors Brooke Lennington and Jace Mills assumed the emcee duties. We were excited to introduce our 2019-2020 Family of the Year, Chad and Anna Startzman and their daughters Zoey and Jemma. This year for the first time our Family of the Year shared a personal story of adoption and how that led to their time at our Ronald McDonald House.
The evening concluded with a DJ Dance party, with some impressive moves shown on the dance floor. We feel incredibly blessed with the generous event sponsorships provided by so many area businesses as well as the levels of support by everyone involved in Denim to Diamonds.
Please mark your calendars for the 18th annual Denim to Diamonds gala, a Kentucky Derby Party, which will be held at the Topeka Ramada Inn on Saturday, August 22, 2020.

Team registration is open through September 13 for the Lance Elliott Pull a Plane Challenge, which will be held the afternoon of Saturday, October 12 at the American Flight Museum, Forbes Field, Topeka. Teams of 10 pullers will compete against each other to see who can pull an 80,000-pound vintage airplane 40 feet in the fastest time, with two opportunities to pull. Each team of 10 is asked to raise at least $1,000 total, which directly benefits the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Topeka.
This year for the first time we are adding an individual truck pulling competition hosted by the Strength Guild at just $20/pull. In addition to the feats of strength, the event will feature a car and motorcycle show, food and other vendors, live music from Rewind, Iron Rail Brewing beer, games for children of all ages, and fun for the entire family!
For more information about registering a team, signing up for the truck pull or serving as a vendor at the event, please contact Mindee Reece at (785) 235-6852 or mindee@rmhcneks.org.
This event goes from noon to 6 pm and is free and open to the public.
Please help spread the word!
