Become a Volunteer Deputy Registrar
Help us register voters in Hays County by becoming a volunteer deputy registrar (VDR) so we can build a voter base that will keep Hays County blue in 2020.
Becoming a VDR is as easy as passing an open-book multiple-choice test, which can be completed in about 10 minutes at the Hays County Government Center, (712 S Stagecoach Trail, San Marcos, TX 78666). It is not necessary to take a special training class.
The test is available online in PDF format for practice purposes. It is only 20 questions long and can be printed and taken with you along with a study guide when you go to the elections office to take the exam.
After taking the short test, you will have your VDR card. The elections office is very accommodating and makes this process easy.
VDR certifications are good for two years, with ALL of them expiring on December 31 of even-numbered years.
Read our website post that describes the full process and provides answers to frequently asked questions.
