Discover the Trail of Missions in Baja California

For the past five years, Cameron Steele (Baja 1000 winner, Trophy Truck Class) has lead a Trail of Missions tour for families in their modified four-wheel drive vehicles. Prior to the tour, a reconnaissance run is made to check roads and potential locations to make sure they are suitable for a large group. This year, Cameron hoped to discover new mission locations that could be added to the tour. With author David Kier as a passenger, they set out in Ford Raptors on the recon trip. David's book, Baja California Land of Missions, is the source for Baja California mission history and he has visited many of the mission sites. However, on this recon trip, David had the opportunity to explore three new sites: The giant painted cave of San Borjitas, the first colony ruins at San Bruno (from 1683), and the visita of San Pablo.

The "Recon" run is the subject of a five part web-exclusive mini-series that began airing on August 14th. You can watch the web series on the BFGoodrich Tires Youtube channel and Facebook page. New episodes will be released each Wednesday leading up to premier of the full 2019 Trail of Missions tour. The tour will be shown on ABC as part of ESPN's World of X Games series on September 1st at 1:00 pm Pacific (check your listings).
