Debden Park High School celebrates "incredible" GCSE results

Debden Park High School has again produced an excellent set of GCSE results with almost 100 Grades 8 and 9 achieved across all subjects to match the record number of A*s attained at A-Level.

Impressive results continued compared to national average in English and Maths with some of the highlights including 84 per cent of students achieving Grades 9-4 in English and 24 per cent of English Grades at 9-7. 

In Maths, 73 per cent of students achieved Grades 9-4 with 18 per cent of students achieving Grades 9-7.

Moreover, a third of students in subjects such as Art, Spanish and Computer Science all achieved a Grade 7 or above. 

Once again the progress students made is expected to be well above the national average across a wide range of subjects including English, Maths, Computer Science, Languages, Biology and Physics.

Head of School Helen Gascoyne said: “We are absolutely thrilled that our consistent focus on learning throughout the school and our constant academic drive has proved yet again to enable students to achieve incredible results. 

"Our lessons are engaging, exciting and challenging and our students have enhanced life chances as a result of learning with us. 

"Our students have risen to the challenge of these more difficult GCSE courses and we are extremely proud of all they have achieved.”

Executive Head Christian Cavanagh said: "Yet again Debden Park High School has proved its place as a centre of excellence. 

"We are extremely proud with of our GCSE results, a week after our impressive A-Level results. 

"All of these results reflect the academic success of this Outstanding school. We would like to thank all of our students, staff, governors and parents for their hard work and continued support as we build on our incredible successes this year.“

Again there has been a record number of students applying for the Sixth Form at Debden Park,  both from current Debden Park students as well as more than 40 applications from other schools.

Debden Park High School students with particularly impressive results are led by the Student Voice Leadership Team:

Deputy Head Boy Max Bolton achieved seven Grade 9s, in English, Geography, History, Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics as well as one Grade 8 in English Literature.

Head Girl Amelie Ashton achieved three Grade 9s, in Drama, Spanish and French as well as two Grade 8s, in English and English Literature, and one Grade 7.

Amy Le achieved three Grade 9s, in Art, Biology and Chinese, as well as five Grade 8s in English, English Literature, Geography, Maths and Chemistry.

Daniel Gatty achieved two Grade 9s, in Computer Science and Maths, as well as three Grade 8s and three Grade 7s.

Debden Park High School is extremely proud of its excellent achievements at GCSE and A-Level and of the school itself and would like to invite prospective parents and students to the Open Morning on Saturday, September 21 (9am-noon) and the Sixth Form Open Evening on Thursday, November 14 (4.30pm-6.30pm).
