EWIS News from DESE's Office for College, Career and Technical Education

CONTENTS:

EWIS is Live!
Educators can review Early Warning Indicator System (EWIS) data in Edwin to understand which students are at risk of missing important academic milestones and to develop additional supports tailored to their students’ strengths and needs. See resources on the EWIS website for more.

Student claiming must be complete to see EWIS information for the 2020 school year.  See the Student Claiming User Guide for details.
Is your district ready for EWIS?
EWIS data is available for districts that submitted the statewide data collections (Education Personnel Information Management SystemStudent Course Schedule, and School Safety Discipline Report). Districts that did not meet the due dates for these may not have initial EWIS data yet. EWIS will be refreshed in the first week of September for districts submitting these collections after the the due dates.
Join an upcoming regional workshop!
The Department will offer several data usage workshops entitled "Maximizing EWIS and VOCAL data in a Cycle of Inquiry" this fall. Sessions will cover the basics of EWIS and an introduction to VOCAL. Dates, locations and registration is available online. For more information, email ewis@doe.mass.edu.
