Good evening. I hope you had a thrilling Thursday.

Today is Black Women's Equal Pay Day, which shows how far into 2019 Black women must work to earn what White men (the highest paid demographic) made in the 2018 calendar year. That means that, despite being the most educated demographic, making up the largest group of minority-owned businesses, and being one of the most reliable voting blocs:
  • Black women have to work almost 20 months to make what White men make in 12 months.
  • Black women make 63 cents for every White woman's 80 cents, and every White man's $1
That's unacceptable. So in tonight's issue, I'm highlighting Black women entrepreneurs like Jessica Spaulding of Harlem Chocolate Factory and Ashley M. Hunter of HM Risk Group, who are succeeding against the odds. And for more Black #GirlBoss inspiration, check out the 5 podcasts featuring Black women business owners I've listened to recently.

See you tomorrow.
