State Deputy Award Changes.

These changes are effective this year.

Traditionally, the Louisiana State Deputy's Award consisted of three awards: (1) 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Louisiana State Deputy’s Awards; (2) Top 20 Certificates; and (3) Fleur De Lis Awards.  In reality, these awards are all just one contest – the Louisiana State Deputy’s Award.

This new change simply creates one award: the “Louisiana State Deputy’s Award”, and it eliminates the Fleur de Lis Award, Top 20 Certificates, trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place, and the necessity for tie breakers.   (The change actually preserves the Fleur de Lis Award, but renames it as the Louisiana State Deputy's Award.)

Now, every council in Louisiana can earn the Louisiana State Deputy’s Award, if the council achieves 80% of the allowable points in each of the 6 major categories:
  • Faith: 100 points
  • Family: 100 points
  • Life: 100 points
  • Community: 100 points
  • YEP: 100 points
  • Admin: 500 points
These changes do not affect the points, the requirements, or the current forms for the State Deputy's Award.  This new concept will simplify things by having one award: Louisiana State Deputy’s Award.  This is an award that every council can earn if it meets the above minimum requirements.

At the State Convention, the Louisiana State Deputy Award recipients will be recognized.  Based on last year's results, 13 councils would have earned the Louisiana State Deputy's Award.  Thus, earning this award will be an honor, and your council should be proud if it earns the Louisiana State Deputy's Award.
