Father's Day gift ideas
Many people can think of a special tree from their childhood. The old weeping willow at the creek where you searched for tadpoles, a giant oak that you would climb in the park.

As we grew up, these trees watched over our play time, providing fun, shelter and protection. Perhaps somewhat symbolically like our fathers.

Recently a customer, Guy, shared with us a story of how his neighbour had planted a magnolia tree many years ago to commemorate the birth of his son. The neighbour moved on several years ago, but every winter when the tree is in full bloom, Guy still sends him a photo to remind him of that special time in his life.

It’s very touching that the act of planting a tree can create a strong emotional connection with others, becoming the living symbols of the bonds we create.

Father’s Day is a time to recognise our fathers as nurturers and caregivers. Why not create a memory and plant a tree that you can nurture together? It is the ultimate living gift, one that - just like the relationship between a father and a child - lasts a lifetime.

Of course, if planting a tree isn't for you, we have tools, gloves, fertilisers, veggies and herbs, and more!   Everything for dads who love to garden.

Happy Father’s Day!

From the team at Town and Country Gardens.

Fairy Magnolia

An evergreen, lush magnolia that flowers prolifically.  This magnolia is fast growing and can cope with full sun to part shade.  It will happily grow in a large pot, so it makes a great tree for small backyards or courtyards.

Eucalyptus caesia
(Silver Princess)

A stunning native tree that has an ethereal, weeping habit.  It has a waxy coating on the stems and fruit that give it a shimmering appearance.  Native birds are very attracted to the flowers.

Japanese Maple

One of the most ornamental trees for the garden (in our opinion)!  With delicate foliage that changes colour in autumn they really are a joyful tree to own.  Japanese maples come in a range of sizes and colours.

Citrus

There's nothing better than picking fruit straight off the tree. Citrus trees grow well in Melbourne. They like full sun, and there are many dwarf varieties available which make them great for small gardens.

Summer is so much better with a beautiful patch of lawn

Beautiful soft grass means summer barefoot fun with the kids - outdoor picnics, sprinkler play, backyard cricket!

With spring just around the corner, now is the time for the lawn to get some TLC. If the man in your life loves his lawn, treat him to a lawn care pack for Father's Day and help him get the lawn ready for a summer full of family fun.

Our team can help put together the perfect package for you.
