Saffron

Join us at World Spice Merchants in Seattle on Saturday, August 24th from 1:00-3:00 PM to meet the US representatives of the Moroccan fair-trade cooperative, Tifout Saffron. We'll be visiting with Randy and Felicia and sampling some tasty creations whipped up by our own spice specialists including saffron lemonade, saffron pear butter with garden-fresh Asian pears and saffron aioli. We're pleased and proud offer this single-origin organic saffron direct from the Tifout Co-op to you. Join us Saturday, August 24th and enjoy a taste!

Saffron threads are the stigmas of Crocus sativus, a rare species of crocus that grows in only a few places around the world.  The blossoms must be harvested by hand at first light on the morning before they open. Each flower bears three saffron threads, which are removed only by hand.”
