CYPSP Plan Consultation
 
The Northern Ireland Children and Young People's Plan is currently out for consultation and ends Friday 30 August 2019.  It is important to us to hear what you have to say about what the Partnership should be addressing as we work to improve outcomes for the children and young people across Northern Ireland.  All responses will be analysed and taken into account.

South Eastern Area Outcomes Group
 
YOUTH MATTERS is on the search for 12 Youth Council Members to represent the voices of young people across the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area.  To apply you must live in the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area and be aged 16-21.  The application process opens on 1 September 2019 and closes on 30 September 2019.

Southern Area Locality Planning: Portadown Gets Active Again in Summer 19
July saw the continuation of the Portadown Gets Active programme which aims to provide a positive participatory response to the need to tackle holiday hunger and provide family support outside of school term time.

Southern Area Locality Planning have recently introduced a new innovative way of sharing information on the great work of services and organisations striving to improve outcomes for children, young people and families in the Southern Trust area.

Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope
 
Since January 2018 Locality Planners have been rolling-out the Resilience Documentary as a first step to raising awareness about ACE’s, Trauma, Toxic Stress and Resilience.    

Between January 2018 and July 2019 the documentary has been screened to 2832 people with more screenings planned in August and September.  Feedback from the audiences have been extremely positive.

Early Intervention Family Support Service Celebrations in Enniskillen

Action for Children Early Intervention Family Support Service is celebrating 10 years of delivering support to children and families in NI. To mark the occasion they had a party in the Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen for children and their families.

Wheelie Great Success In West Belfast
 
Over the last six weeks Autism NI's West Belfast Support Group supported children with a diagnosis of autism to learn how to ride a bike.  The initiative, supported by the Belfast City Council Support for Sport: Small Development Grant, provided the children with an opportunity to ride a bike in a safe, supportive and structured environment.

ASCERT is currently delighted to be working alongside The Safeguarding Board of Northern Ireland to deliver their Adverse Childhood Experiences training. This training is the fourth workstream within the Early Intervention Transformation Programme (EITP).

Blackie River Community Celebration Event
 

On Saturday 3 August, students and staff from Blackie River Community Groups entertained family and friends in Belfast City Hall. Students were celebrating their graduations, while staff celebrated Blackie’s 25th anniversary.

Blackie River Centre offers a range of community based services, including education.  The centre offers a range of courses at all levels of study, encouraging career progression and CPD.

Steps to Cope Project
 
The Steps to Cope Project has been funded by the National Lottery Community Fund (formerly Big Lottery Fund) Impact of Alcohol Fund from 2014-19. The project is a partnership between ASCERT, Barnardo’s NI, The South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust and AFInetUK.  Steps to Cope is an intervention for young people aged 11 to 18 affected by parental alcohol/drug misuse (hidden harm) or parental mental health problems.
