Colorado Rockies (58-70) vs St. Louis Cardinals (68-58)

The Colorado Rockies are in St. Louis for Game 2 of a four-game series at Busch Stadium.  The Cardinals won the first game of this series, 6-5 and are 8-2 the last 10 meetings vs the Rockies.

Friday's Pitching Probables: Rockies RH Peter Lambert (2-3, 6.55 ERA) vs. Cardinals RH Jack Flaherty (7-6, 3.46 ERA).

The Rockies have played .500 ball the last 10 games and they currently sit at the bottom of the NL West, 26.5 games behind the Dodgers.  The Rockies will not be playing postseason baseball this season but they can act as spoiler down the stretch.  Peter Lambert takes the mound for his 14th start this season.  Lambert threw six innings, allowing three runs on six hits with one walk and two strikeouts in his last start vs the Marlins.  Lambert is 0-1 with a 9.64 ERA, a 1.93 WHIP, over 14 innings in his last three starts.  This will be Lambert's first career start vs the Cardinals.

St. Louis enters Friday's contest a 0.5 game behind the Cubs in the NL Central after their come-from-behind win in game one on Thursday.  Dexter Fowler, Marcell Ozuna, and Paul DeJong each had a home run and two RBIs to lead the charge for the Cardinals.  Jack Flaherty gets the ball for the Cardinals as he makes his 26th start of the season.  Flaherty earned the win in his last start, which came Sunday on the road against the Reds.  Flaherty has a 2-0 record with a 0.47 ERA over his last 3 starts.

The Rockies are 2-9 in Lamberts last 11 starts, 7-22 in their last 29 road games and 14-31 in their last 45 overall.  Colorado's offense has faltered on the road this year which has led to (25-41) record away from Coors Field this season.  The Cardinals are 7-1 in their last 8 home games, 5-1 in Flaherty's last 6 starts and 41-19 in their last 60 vs. a team with a losing record.  St. Louis is (37-24) at Busch Stadium this season and they are 3-1 the last 4 games at home.

Jack Flaherty has pitched well lately and the Cardinals have scored 21 runs their last 4 games.  The Cardinals are in the heat of a playoff race and winning at home is essential to St. Louis making the playoffs.  I like the Cardinals (-1.5 RL) in Game 2 of this four-game series.
