We Held Newcomer Day
Newcomer Day took place on Friday June 14, 2019. The feelings of joy and unity still did not leave us.
Special thank you to our sponsor, RBC, our network of partners who made this day possible, and our community volunteers.
We Published a Research Report and Launched a YouTube Series
Hamilton recognizes that #ImmigrationMattersMeet a Hamiltonian Immigrant is a series produced by the City of Hamilton to highlight successful immigrant stories in our community, particularly shedding light on the economic contributions of our immigrant population. The series is a collaboratively produced by the Hamilton Immigration Partnership Council (HIPC) and Economic Development for the City of Hamilton.

In keeping with that, HIPC has released a new report addressing questions about immigrants living in Hamilton between 2010 and 2016, including admission categories, and occupational and employment characteristics.
Fall 2019 Projects: Stay Tuned
  • The launch of the Language and Employment task-force: The Coordination of Services Committee will initiate a task force to engage local employers in Hamilton to educate employers on processes of hiring newcomers, connect employers with newcomers who are looking for job opportunities, and explore innovative collaboration ideas with employers.
  • CommuniTea Event: The Communications and Community Engagement Committee will resume its CommuniTea events across the city, to cultivate meaningful conversations  on immigration and inclusion.
  • Informal Networks Meet-Up: The first community meet-up with our informal community-based networks and groups, to build bridges between the formal services in settlement and informal networks.
