HIPC received a Certificate of Recognition from Hon. Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. The certificate was presented by Ms. HooJung Jones, Recipient of Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers, to our HIPC Chair Jim Vanderveken.

We Published a Research Report and Launched a YouTube Series
|

Hamilton recognizes that #ImmigrationMatters. Meet a Hamiltonian Immigrant is a series produced by the City of Hamilton to highlight successful immigrant stories in our community, particularly shedding light on the economic contributions of our immigrant population. The series is a collaboratively produced by the Hamilton Immigration Partnership Council (HIPC) and Economic Development for the City of Hamilton.
In keeping with that, HIPC has released a new report addressing questions about immigrants living in Hamilton between 2010 and 2016, including admission categories, and occupational and employment characteristics.

Fall 2019 Projects: Stay Tuned

- The launch of the Language and Employment task-force: The Coordination of Services Committee will initiate a task force to engage local employers in Hamilton to educate employers on processes of hiring newcomers, connect employers with newcomers who are looking for job opportunities, and explore innovative collaboration ideas with employers.
- CommuniTea Event: The Communications and Community Engagement Committee will resume its CommuniTea events across the city, to cultivate meaningful conversations on immigration and inclusion.
- Informal Networks Meet-Up: The first community meet-up with our informal community-based networks and groups, to build bridges between the formal services in settlement and informal networks.

Hamilton Immigration Partnership Council (HIPC) is a community table housed within the City of Hamilton and funded by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. With partners from various sectors – including settlement, education, business, health, social services, and persons with lived experience – we work together to create a welcoming community with relevant and accessible services. HIPC currently has up to two vacancies for persons with lived experience of immigration. The term is one year, with the possibility of renewal. The deadline has been extended to September 20,2019.
