As the leaves are starting to change colour we are suddenly realising that we are now into September. We have had a busy summer with community archaeology sessions, family friendly events and a Level 1 dry stone walling course (just to name a few things!). We hope everyone who has attended our sessions or events has enjoyed it and we are very happy to say that all of the trainees passed their Level 1 dry stone walling qualification!
Volunteering Opportunities with the Pendle Hill Volunteers
The Pendle Hill Volunteers have been busy over the summer with invasive species removal and are now looking forward to getting involved with more Wild About Pendle Hill sites and revisiting the Pendle Hill Summit. Over the next few months activities include building some winter homes for wildlife, helping out more restoration work on the summit and making space for wildflowers on an important grassland site. Everyone welcome but under 18s must be accompanied by an parent or guardian.

Now recruiting a Graduate Trainee!
We are currently recruiting for our next Graduate Trainee to join the LP team for 12 months later on this year. If you are, or know of, a recent graduate who is committed to conservation and communities and keen to work outdoors then this may be a great opportunity!

Pendle Hill Summit Peat Restoration Projects
Since we finished the peat restoration works on the summit in April, we have had news that our partners Ribble Rivers Trust will be progressing another peatland restoration project above Mearley Clough (on the Clitheroe facing side of the hill). Fantastic news for peat habitats and carbon stores! Work is due to start late Autumn. Look out for our 2 volunteer dates in October on the summit of the hill!
Community Archaeology
Over the past few months we have been joined by Danielle Knights, an archaeology student from UCLan who has been carrying out her internship with us. Danielle developed and delivered a number of community archaeology outreach sessions to different groups. Thanks to all who participated!

Pendle Hill Mobile Hut!
The Mobile Hut is now fully operational and has been featured at different events so far across the Pendle Hill Landscape. Look out for it on tour throughout the local area over the next few months! Our partners, In-Situ, are currently trying to find a name for the hut and want your help.
Find out more about the hut as well as other In Situ news
Treasure Trails!
New children's Treasure Trails have been produced for the Discover Pendle Hill project by local schools and Stuart Marshall. These trails lead you around Sabden and Barrowford finding the answers to clues lying in the villages' hidden heritage, that may well lead you to buried treasure! Next year we will be developing new trails in two more villages - get in touch if you want to be involved where you live!

Call out for Apprenticeships
We are still on the look-out for employers and young people who may want to be involved in our subsidised apprenticeship scheme. This project offers 50% of the apprentice's salary to employers in the LP area offering work in areas linked to our projects such as groundwork contractors, outdoor activity, community art or environmental monitoring.

Pendlefolk
Pendlefolk hope to shine a light on some of the brilliant stories of the Pendle Hill area. Through conversations with people who live and work in the area, the volunteers hope to be able to retell so many stories from on and around the hill that may not be told otherwise. Take a look at what they have been getting up to so far - from farming to art shops! Follow them on Facebook or Instagram @Pendlefolk.
