SUBJECT: SAVE THE DATE-October 23, 2019-Scoping Session for Safely Surrendered Baby and Indian Child Welfare Act
The California Department of Social Services (CDSS), Office of Child Abuse Prevention (OCAP) in partnership with the Office of Tribal Affairs (OTA), invites you to participate in a scoping session to discuss the implications of the Safely Surrendered Baby Law as it relates to the rights of Indian children and tribes through the Indian Child Welfare Act. Recently, it has come to our attention that tensions exist between these two laws and we would like to better understand the landscape to determine possible solutions. We would greatly appreciate your participation.
