today, Governor Newsom promised that the proposed Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum will "never see the light of day."

Further, the Governor said, “We are united in our resolve to make sure the advisory committee draft is only that, a draft, that will be substantially amended. And let me also apologize on behalf of the state for the anxiety that this produced. It was offensive in so many ways, particularly to the Jewish community.”

THANK you Governor Newsom! Thank you to all the amazing ICAN advocates, and our fearless leader California Chairwoman Vered Elkouby Nisim, Dina Leeds, and our student and parent leaders! 🙏

At ICAN we will continue to keep our public comment system live until the final curriculum is approved on March 31st, 2020, ensuring that our community continues to have a voice on this vital issue moving forward.

And, in our unique capacity as the nation's only Israeli-American advocacy organization, we will work closely with our leaders in Sacramento to make sure the approved curriculum meets our community's standards.
