News from GDS Church

We are delighted to welcome you to our morning service in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. If you are a visitor, please make yourself known to the welcome team or the minister.

This Sunday, the service will be lead by our Assistant to the Minister Trevor Martindale and Zoltan Safrany, supported by the worship team, where we will be exploring the theme of "Uncovering God's Forgiveness." The scripture reading is from Psalm 32.

Events for your diary

Saturday 31st August, 10am-4pm. Scotland: God's Matchstick for the world? Day Conference at Holy Trinity Church.
Scotland has been a land of many revivals, a place where God has moved in power on many occasions and in remarkable ways over the centuries. So many of these stories have been forgotten.
Doug McMurry and Tom Lennie have a long-standing and burning passion to re-discover and tell the stories of how God has visited churches and communities in power. Tom focusses on Scotland's story, and Doug on how God has used Scotland as a fire-starter in many other lands!
In a time when our land is desperately in need of spiritual awakening, it is so important that we, His people, take time to remind ourselves and give thanks for all that God has done for us in the past, so we can be stirred up in our longing, in our faith and in our prayers for Him to DO IT AGAIN! This is a day to do just that!
The day will be a mixture of worship, talks and prayer. There will be a break of around an hour for lunch - please bring your own packed lunch! Coffee, tea and nibbles will be provided. There is no cost for attending, but there will be an opportunity to give a freewill offering.

GDS Children & Families Outreach Worker Vacancy:
As announced last week, our current Children & Families Outreach Worker, Rachel, will be leaving us at the end of the month. Therefore, we are seeking a motivated person to take forward the exciting outreach work we have identified for our church when the current post holder leaves in September.   The person appointed must have a passion, vision and burden for the people of Gorgie Dalry Stenhouse and be able to work with the local schools and other churches to reach out to those in the local community. Under the direction of the minister and Youth Committee on behalf of the Kirk session they must be able to build upon and develop children and family work in the parish, to nurture them in faith.  Job Description available upon request or see our website. If you are interested, please contact our minister, Peter Barber for more information at minister@gdschurch.org.uk.

GDS Diadem Just Giving Page:
We are now in the process of making GDS Diadem ready to host the Shelter for years to come. The most important improvement that the facilities at Diadem require is an upgrade of the kitchen to a commercial kitchen standard. This will make preparing meals for up to 75 sleepers each night far easier for the many volunteer catering teams. In order to start fundraising for this project, Susan kay has kindly set up a Just Giving page. If you would like to support the project to turn GDS Diadem into a home for the Care Shelter in a financial way, please consider donating via this page. www.justgiving.com/campaign/diadem
