September is a month when many of us face new challenges; think of kids who may be starting school for the first time or moving on to second level. While feeling some level of excitement and nervousness is healthy in entering any new venture, job, relationship, change of circumstances etc this can unfortunately quickly lead to anxiety.

Why do healthy nerves sometimes become anxiety? One answer is that on a biological level, we feel them in the same way - butterflies in the tummy, sweaty hands etc. We tend to misread the biological signs and get caught up in an unfortunate feedback loop between the body and mind. 

For kids starting a new school, fears of being rejected and isolated can arise for teenagers and attachment to parents for children starting ‘big school’ for the first time can be traumatic. I’ll be on Today FM at 10.30.am this morning to discuss this very topic and I hope to put at ease some parental fears.

The best book I have read on my journey for greater happiness in life. It is very obviously a lifetime of work and experience from Fiona and is written beautifully and accessibly.

It is the perfect blend between theory and very practical self-awareness/ improvement tools. I have done a significant amount of work on myself (through meditation and reading), but didn't know how to deal with unconscious thoughts and their negative effect on my body and mind.
