Mountain biking on track for big things

Council’s Economic Development program is developing a business case and feasibility study for a mountain bike park in the upper Pioneer Valley. Initial estimates indicate the Mountain Bike Park could attract up to 18,000 extra visitors per year and more than $6 million in economic benefit for the region.

The feasibility study work has entered the detailed investigation phase with trail options being explored. Initial engagement has been undertaken with a range of stakeholders, with more detailed workshops to be held when concept plans have progressed on trail locations .

Is your club or organisation prepared for a bushfire?

The bushfire season is upon us. So now is the time to develop your Business Continuity Plan (BCP). Your BCP should contain all the information necessary to ensure that your club/organisation is able to resume critical activities in the event of a crises.

This could include a checklist to ensure you have a current contact list, back-ups of computer files, scanned copies of any important documents, such as insurance policies, and include a general clean-up of your premises to remove any debris.

It is also important to have a checklist to prepare your own place of residence.

For further information on how to prepare for emergencies, visit the Mackay Regional Council Emergency Dashboard at disaster.mackay.qld.gov.au or contact Kristie Brown, Emergency Management Officer on kristie.brown@mackay.qld.gov.au
