Keeping a Healthy Brain for Life!!  

 

 

Reducing your risk of Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's or dementia does not have to be complicated or expensive. Here are some simple ways to boost and preserve your brain power each day and for the rest of your life.

Sleep – scientists believe that sleep allows time for the body to clear the brain of toxic waste, including the toxins that are elevated in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients. Aim for 7 hours of sleep at the minimum.

Have a Cup-A Joe – studies suggest that coffee consumption may help cognition and reduce the risk of Parkinson’s and dementia. 

Brush & Floss your Teeth – researchers at UCLA-San Francisco found the same bacteria related to gum disease in the brains of deceased Alzheimer’s patients.  These bacteria make an enzyme that may increase the levels of beta-amyloid plaque.

Get some Exercise – the part of the brain associated with memory and learning grows larger with regular exercise.
Practice knot tying – calling all Boy Scouts! Tying different styles of knots exercises your brains ability to focus, concentrate and remember.
