Weekly Sage 100cloud News and Tips
08/29/19
Welcome to the last Schulz Says email newsletter of the summer. This week's issue is coming to you from our new location in Moodus CT as we've moved over the weekend ( and have the boxes to prove it! ).
Now that the summer vacations are drawing to a close, I have three suggestions for you starting in September 2019:
1. Upgrade payroll to 2.x - if you haven't already - Sage is no longer updating older payroll
2. Upgrade Sage 100cloud to 2019 - get current to maximize your Sage licensing
3. Review your credit card fees - all credit card processors will perform a free review of the charges you pay and in most cases, you're going to save money ( pbenitez@apsmerchants.com )
OPTIMIZE YOUR WAREHOUSE WITH WAVE PICKING & RECEIVING
Did you know that options are available to streamline how your orders are processed moving both into and out of the warehouse?
Wave picking ( and receiving ) are automated ways of distributing the warehouse workload based upon a number of factors - most commonly shipping deadline - so that your pickers are more efficient.
This becomes an important issue for ( a) high volume warehouses or ( b ) large warehouses when walking from point a to point b repeatedly is time-consuming.
There are several integrations available which allow for a much more automated warehouse workflow including ScanForce WMS. Check out the video at the end of this post ( NO registration required ) for an overview of how this works.
MAPADOC SOLD FOR $11.5 MILLION
Silversun Technologies, the parent company of VAR SWK Technologies, announces the sale of the MAPADOC EDI product line to SPS Commerce for $11.5 million cash.
MAPADOC was a widely used EDI solution which facilitated data transfer between Sage 100, 500, X3 and Acumatica and various large customers.
Electronic data interchange (EDI) is the concept of businesses electronically communicating information that was traditionally communicated on paper, such as purchase orders and invoices. Technical standards for EDI exist to facilitate parties transacting such instruments without having to make special arrangements.
While a bit surprising, it's likely Silversun will put the funds to work making one or more acquisitions. The company states their goal is "increasing our monthly recurring revenue (“MRR”), and on increasing MRR as a percentage of total revenue".
In a press release, they identify "software publishing and IT services" as two types of companies they are especially interested in acquiring.
A quick call with the company also revealed this was largely an offer that they couldn't refuse. Expect no material changes as both companies have a lengthy channel history with most MAPADOC employees reportedly staying on. IMO, no reason for MAPADOC users to panic.
