1st Sunday @ Gemini
Practice Worship Experience
COMPLETED

Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! - Genesis 1:31

Looking back at the first practice service for Rock Harbor there is of course many areas that we are truly excited to improve before our preview services in September, but there was so much GOOD that we can see that God is at work THROUGH Rock Harbor Church in a powerful way.

Alex Rahill, the Director of Church Planting for the entire Evangelical Covenant Church globally (and his is speaking next month in Chile so that really proves that we are a part of a global movement) was with us for our practice service.  What he said as that even though there are some systems and technical areas we need to improve...that the joy of our people and the depths of our spiritual desire to glorify God was evident and that is what really matters the most.  Angie and I are glad that Alex could see what we already knew to be true!

We had a strong turn-out of all volunteers and was able to practice setting up for the first time in Gemini Elementary School.  What I felt and other shared with me was that we were creating a really welcoming environment, and then when we entered into the time of worship, communion, prayer, scripture reading and the proclamation of God's truth that we desire to live in God's favor more than life itself...God was present in that school!
Check out Angie's tour of Gemini during the service!

The day wouldn't have been a success if it wasn't for each and every person who came to serve and be a part of the birth of a new church.  We had players from Easter Florida's women basketball team with Coach MJ Baker.  James Moore did such a good job putting out signs that the school board received a complaint that the school was promoting a church, but they assured them that we did not have signs up during school hours and so we are good there.  We even had friends from other churches helping in the children's area.  It was the Kingdom of God at work!
We do have a lot of work to do over the next two weeks as we prepare to start weekly services on September 8th and then the Grand Opening on October 6th.  Some of our to-do-list includeds:
  • Reviewing every volunteer position for the church and making a clear description of what they are being asked to do, schedule, and their own to-do-list
  • Training of new volunteers
  • Background Checks for All Children's Volunteers
  • Creating our Children's Check-In System
  • Fixing some signage issues inside and clarifying flow from parking lot to front door
  • Post-Cards for Preview Services
  • Mass Mailing for Grand Opening
  • Press Releases for Grand Opening
  • Design our bulletins, website, and announcements models
  • Complete our Connection Card Process
  • Define our Offering Process
  • And so much more...
I share all of this to remind all of us that the building of the church is really never complete, but we have taken a significant step.  What is so great is that a couple of people can't do all of this...but the Body of Christ can!

Please continue to pray for us and if you haven't partnered with us financially we need your support now more than ever.  Rock Harbor is getting closer to being a Healthy Missional Church, but our cost are very high right now as we are building nearly everything from scratch.

Please visit www.rhfl.org/give to make a one-time or a reoccurring donation to support what God is doing IN and THROUGH Rock Harbor Church.

Blessings,
Pastor Kevin & Angie Diamond
