The University of Maryland has become the first university on the planet to join the Cool Food Pledge, an initiative to fight climate change and bring more sustainable food to dining halls, campus cafes and event catering. UMD has an enormous opportunity to reduce the university’s climate footprint with more sustainable food options while helping students develop lifelong sustainable eating patterns.

The processor of UMD's recyclable material is no longer accepting glass. Please do not dispose any glass products in campus recycling bins—all glass products should be disposed in the trash/landfill waste bins. The Office of Recycling & Solid Waste suggests reducing your use of disposable glass in favor of alternatives that can be reused or successfully recycled such as aluminum or plastic containers. Email recycle@umd.edu with any questions or concerns.
