Kite Fest 2019 raises $14,000

$14,000 raised through Kite Fest 2019 to support two local and two global non-profits

Kite Fest 2019, a family-friendly, community-focused fundraiser was held on May 19, 2019. It allowed over 1,000 attendees to take part in kite flying at ISU’s Hancock Stadium along with live music, rock-climbing, robotics & wind exhibits, face painting, graffiti wall, K9 demonstration, nonprofit fair, food and more.

The event was free to attend, and funds were raised through sponsors and kite sales. Additional funds were raised through donations made at the door on the day of the event. Altogether, funds raised by Kite Fest amounted to just over $14,000.

Funds raised are being divided equally in helping local and global efforts. Half of the proceeds were distributed to two local nonprofits, the Pantagraph Goodwill Fund and Dreams are Possible, and half will be distributed to two global nonprofits in Guatemala, Maya Book Project and Safe Passage.

32 young adults and 1 youth team have been nominated for the 2019 YICU Service Award Celebration. The event will be held September 8^th at DoubleTree. This event gives special recognition to young adults who have made their mark on our community. YICU Service Award recognizes and celebrates community service and leadership in McLean County.

YGC Graduation Ceremony - Class of 2020

The YGC graduation ceremony is less than two weeks away! All are welcome and encouraged to join us on September 8th from 10:30a-12p at the Double Tree hotel in Bloomington to help celebrate a tremendous group of inspirational youth leaders making a difference in our community.

During the graduation event, each project team will deliver their final presentations, summarizing their project goals and successes toward furthering the mission of three great local non-profit organizations; Dreams Are Possible (DAP), West Bloomington Revitalization Project (WBRP), and the Life Center For Independent Living (LifeCIL).

The YGC graduation ceremony is immediately followed by the YICU service awards banquet at the same location.
