I know some of you will be reading that thinking ‘didn’t we just do this?’ Well that is true we had a special meeting to vote in our parish council back in May. However we also have to hold our regular annual meeting each year as well and that is what this is. Of major importance at this meeting is that you need to decide what you will do if my position were to become vacant (just to be clear, I have no plans of leaving!) Firstly, you need to decide if you want to give the Bishop the power to choose whoever he wants or if you would like to be part of the decision making process (normally parishes would choose this second option). Assuming the latter is chosen, then you need to decide upon what is called the nomination committee, whose task it is to work alongside the northern nomination committee (that was elected by the synod, ironically I am part of that committee) to find a suitable replacement to be the next minister to lead our church.

Bishop Richard is frequently heard declaring that this is by far the most important thing that you do at an annual meeting. It is vital that you choose people with the wisdom to work on your behalf to find a suitable person to lead the parish in making disciples of the Lord Jesus here in Circular Head.

Bishop’s Training Event
Speaking of the Bishop, on Saturday 21stSeptember the annual Bishop’s Training Event will be on. In the past we have been expected to travel down to Hobart to attend and a group of dedicated folk have. This year the event will be livestreamed from Burnie Anglican Church. The theme of the day is about being disciples who are shaped by the word, prayer and service. It should be a great time of encouragement for all. Register now and find out more at bishopstrainingevent.com
