How has back-to-school been for your family? The beginning of the school year is a good time to create routines that support learning at home. Do your children have homework? If so, what is the homework routine in your family? Do you have a consistent time and space for your child to complete required homework, or to sit down and read with you daily?
Intentional effort now can create a structure that helps you and your child all year. Parents and teachers are often frustrated with homework. Each expects the other to take a little more responsibility for homework. Interesting, isn’t it? Where is the student in all of this? What can we do to grow student responsibility? Read more on our blog for some thoughts from a teaching and parenting perspective around managing homework and building learning routines at home. Upcoming Parenting Workshops
Parenting with Positive Discipline - 6-week series
Join us for this 6-week series in Seattle. Mondays, Sept 30 - Nov 4, 6:30pm-9pm. We combine Positive Discipline and brain science research in a fun, supportive environment.
Feedback from participants in our Parenting with Positive Discipline 6-week series:
"I had already been implementing some positive parenting ideas...but this class really helped solidify what those strategies look like in practice and for our family. The things we discussed helped me to evaluate my own parenting style, find the places where I can improve and gave us practical advice for how to do better. I really enjoyed learning from the facilitators and the other parents in a fun and low- pressure setting and would definitely recommend this class to any other parent or caregiver. I am very grateful for the opportunity I've had to attend!"
"I miss you all and our nights together! However I've never enjoyed school events as much as I have since taking our class! Everywhere I look I see a friendly face and someone to talk to; it helps me remember I'm not alone!"
"I loved this class, it was more than just a meeting, I connected with many of the parents in the class and felt understood."
