September 2019

While this newsletter travels the world, the majority of subscribers are from Ireland. And so, we welcome Irish teachers back to the start of a new school year! I hope you enjoyed your Summer break and that you found it calm and peaceful.
We would like to encourage you to begin again the the practice of whole-school meditation with the children. I know there are so many changes to face and new children to welcome into your classroom but don't forget that meditation helps to create community - it gives rise to a sense of belonging where all are equal. So, get the meditation up and running across the school as soon as you can!
Every school in the Meditation with Children Project gets a Starter Pack when they join the scheme. As new resources are developed they are added to the pack but they are also made available for free to all schools in the project -  apart from  postage.
In March 2019 we launched our new CD Meditation with Children: Songs & Resources. In June we went even further and published a beautiful Songbook for the CD which contains the lyrics and music for each song; it also includes a brief commentary to help teachers explain how the lyrics explore the rich fruits of meditation as experienced by children.
The CD and Songbook are available to schools in the project free of charge - one CD per school which may be copied for internal sharing. To claim the CD and Songbook for your school all you have to do is send a stamped addressed envelope (C5 in size, with a €2 stamp), addressed to the Principal of your school at your school's address. Post your SAE to Noel Keating, Meditation with Children, 4 The Glade, Oak Park Road, Carlow, R93 DD76 and your CD will be on its way shortly afterwards!

In conjunction with Kildare Education Centre, we ran a week-long summer school for primary teachers on the theme of Mindfulness, Meditation and the Wellbeing of the Teacher and Child. It took place in the Presentation Primary School in Kilcock during the first week of July and the feedback indicates it was regarded by all as a resounding success. We hope to offer the course again next year - in two locations - during the first week of July and possibly the second-last week of August. If you would like us to offer the course at a venue near you, click here to let us know and we will go wherever the demand is strongest!
Please click this panel to visit our Facebook page & then click 'Like'. The more 'Likes' we get, the more the word spreads about the benefits and fruits of meditation for children.
Remember that we have a range of resources - many of them free - to help you engage with their children around meditation.

Visit our resources page on our website by clicking on the image to the right. You will be able top access our free lesson plans, sound-tracks, posters and newsletters.

The posters are available as pdfs. They are large in size so that you can print the posters as A3 or A4 depending on your need.
